NORAD: "We can shoot down ALL North Korean Rockets"

    moku 670 0

Responding to questions from Sen. Deb Fischer (R-NE) at a Senate Armed Services Hearing on Thursday, Gen. Lori Robinson, the commander of NORAD and the U.S. Northern Command, told the committee that she is “100 percent confident” in her ability to stop a North Korean nuclear missile attack.

Fischer cited a recent editorial from The New York Times as an example of skepticism of U.S. missile defense capabilities. The paper’s editorial criticized President Trump’s request for an expansion of America’s spending on its missile shield, questioning the effectiveness of this program:

Mr. Trump is overselling the program, an interlocking network of interceptors, radars, sensors and so-called kill vehicles. He has boasted that the system is 97 percent effective in preventing limited-scale attacks; the truth is more like 50 percent. So its defense against North Korean weapons is hardly a sure thing.

The program’s failings were on display as recently as last month, when, during a test off the Hawaiian coast, an interceptor missile launched from a test site in Kauai failed to hit its target, an incoming dummy missile. That was the second failure in three tests of the interceptor, the SM-3, which is intended to be a mainstay of American regional missile defense systems being deployed in Romania, Poland and Japan to guard against medium-range missiles. The Pentagon has not disclosed what went wrong.

A US jet operating in Syria destroyed a Russian-made T-72 battle tank near Al Tabiyeh, Syria, on Saturday, a Pentagon representative confirmed to Business Insider on Tuesday.

"The tank had been maneuvering with coordinated indirect fire on a defensive position occupied by Syrian Democratic Forces and Coalition advisers," US Marine Corps Maj. Adrian J.T. Rankine-Galloway said, adding that the SDF's "position was within effective range of the hostile weapons systems."

The US has been training, equipping, and backing the SDF rebels in Syria's civil war for years as Russia has provided similar assistance to forces loyal to the Syrian government in close proximity.

Fox News' Lucas Tomlinson first reported the news of the tank's destruction and said three crew members were killed, though their identities and affiliations were unclear. Tomlinson said the tank was destroyed after "pro-regime forces" fired on US special operations troops near the location where 500 pro-government forces attacked a headquarters used by SDF and US troops last week.

Israel Lands 12 Surgical Strikes after Hezbollah Terrorists Shoot down a F-16 Fighter Jet

Israel on Saturday said it launched heavy air strikes in Syria, and hit air defenses and Iranian targets in retaliation of its F-16 fighter jet that was downed by Syria.

The Syrian army had claimed to have brought down an Israeli F-16 that crashed on Saturday in northern Israel in a major escalation of tension

The Israeli military said early assessments indicated the jet had been shot down by Syrian fire, but this was still unconfirmed.

Israel said later Saturday that it had attacked 12 additional targets, including three aerial defense batteries and four Iranian targets “that are part of Iran’s military establishment in Syria.”

Israel said the F-16 crashed during a mission to strike Iranian drone installations in Syria.

It said that it sent its jets into Syria after shooting down an Iranian drone over Israeli territory earlier on Saturday.

The military alliance fighting in support of Assad denied any of its drones had entered Israeli air space.

In a statement, it said Israel had targeted an air base in the Homs desert that is being used to fly drones in missions against Islamic State.

Such “terrorist action” by Israel would be met with a “severe and serious response,” it said.

The Israeli military spokesman said Israel did not seek escalation in the region, calling its action a “defensive effort triggered by an Iranian act of aggression”.

Iran’s expanding clout during Syria’s nearly seven-year-long war, including deployments of Iran-backed forces near the Golan frontier, has raised alarm in Israel.

Federal, state and local law enforcement officers raided multiple residences Wednesday morning in connection with a heroin trafficking ring that has cartel ties, authorities said. Officers reportedly seized cash, heroin and firearms. Casey Roebuck, a spokeswoman for the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office, said a search warrant executed at the Shoreline Apartments, in the 2300 block of South 96th East Avenue, “was proving to be the most productive.”

In all, officers served nine warrants at locations in Tulsa and Wagoner counties, TCSO Deputy Justin Green said.

Ten people were arrested on state felony complaints including aggravated trafficking of a controlled and dangerous substance, possession of drug proceeds and use of a telephonic device to commit a felony.

Authorities said six of the 10 were Mexican citizens but were in the United States legally.

Two individuals were administratively arrested on immigration charges for being illegally present in the United States.

All the raided locations were connected to a heroin and human trafficking ring that operates in Tulsa, authorities said. The people targeted were estimated to be supplying as much as two-thirds of the heroin in the Tulsa area.

“We found a lot of heroin. We found guns. We found a lot of money,” Green said. “So we’re getting a lot of heroin off the streets.”

FIRST LOSS IN 35 YEARS: Video Captures the Exact Moment an Israeli Fighter Jet Was Shot down by Hezbollah Terrorists

    moku 1710 0

Israel’s military on Sunday confirmed that its downed F-16 fighter jet had been hit by a Syrian antiaircraft missile — the first plane it has lost to enemy fire in more than 35 years.

The Israel Defense Forces had been investigating whether the plane that crashed in Israel on Saturday after carrying out a bombing raid inside Syria had suffered a direct hit, had been struck by shrapnel or had crashed after its pilots ejected under fire.

“Our preliminary understanding is that the plane crashed due to a ground-to-air missile,” said IDF spokesman Lt. Col. Jonathan Cornicus said Sunday. “It was hit.” The jet was one of eight planes carrying out a raid inside Syria to bomb the T4 air base near Palmyra, after the Israeli military said an Iranian drone operated from the base had crossed into Israel.

The Israeli military has said the drone was on a “mission” but has not given further details or commented on whether the drone was armed. Iran has dismissed the claim as “ridiculous.”

Israel has not lost a plane in combat since 1982, when one of its jets was also brought down by the Syrians. After the jet was downed on Saturday, Israel embarked on its most extensive bombing campaign inside the country since that year, when it moved to destroy Syria’s antiaircraft capacity.

The 33-year-old pilot shot dead two rebels with his Stechkin hand gun as the jihadists closed in on him as he stayed in radio contact with his Khmeimim base from the ground.

But realising his situation was hopeless, he pulled the pin on his grenade to kill himself.

His last words caught on a rebel video were: “This is for our guys”.

Filipov, from Vladivostok, has been posthumously nominated for the Kremlin’s highest honour - the Hero of Russia, it was reported.

Badass Video Shows the Ground Penetrating Capabilities of the Bunker Busting B 61 – 12 Nuclear Bomb

    moku 2815 -3

The capability of the new B61-12 nuclear bomb seems to continue to expand, from a simple life-extension of an existing bomb, to the first U.S. guided nuclear gravity bomb, to a nuclear earth-penetrator with increased accuracy.

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) previously published pictures of the drop test from October 2015 that showed the B61-12 hitting inside the target circle but without showing the bomb penetrating underground.

But a Sandia National Laboratories video made available by the New York Times shows the B61-12 penetrating completely underground.

The evidence that the B61-12 can penetrate below the surface has significant implications for the types of targets that can be held at risk with the bomb. A nuclear weapon that detonates after penetrating the earth more efficiently transmits its explosive energy to the ground, thus is more effective at destroying deeply buried targets for a given nuclear yield. A detonation above ground, in contrast, results in a larger fraction of the explosive energy bouncing off the surface. Two findings of the 2005 National Academies’ study Effects of Earth-Penetrator and other Weapons are key:

“The yield required of a nuclear weapon to destroy a hard and deeply buried target is reduced by a factor of 15 to 25 by enhanced ground-shock coupling if the weapon is detonated a few meters below the surface.”

LEAKED Pentagon Documents Expose the Russian Militaries Building a So-Called "Doomsday Torpedo"

The Russian government is reportedly developing a city-killing torpedo, called Kanyon, that would allegedly leave a country’s coastline uninhabitable for decades. The terrifying news, which sounds more likely to come from a “James Bond” film, was actually leaked from the Pentagon’s report on nuclear weapons posturing.

The “doomsday torpedo” has been on the U.S. military’s radar for several years and was first revealed publicly by the Washington Free Beacon in 2015. Kanyon, an autonomous underwater vehicle carrying a lethal 100-megaton thermonuclear weapon, is reportedly being designed by the Russians to attack coastal areas, major cities, naval bases, and other sea ports.

The massive nuclear payload of Kanyon would equal the explosion of 100 million tons of TNT and is twice as powerful as the most powerful thermonuclear weapon ever tested, according to Popular Mechanics.
