A woman, reportedly wearing an Isis headband, is facing several charges after she allegedly swung a golf club and threatened employees and customers with a knife at a Scarborough Canadian Tire.
The incident happened Saturday evening in the Canadian Tire in Cedarbrae Mall near Markham Road and Lawrence Avenue East.
Police said shortly after 5 p.m., the woman walked into the store’s paint department brandishing a golf club. It’s alleged she swung the club at employees and a customer and threatened them.
Staff and customers were able to restrain her, and when she reportedly pulled a large knife from under her clothes, an employee pried it from her hands.
The employee had non-life-threatening injuries.
Rehab Dughmosh, 32, was charged with seven offences, including uttering death threats and assault with a weapon.
She appeared in court on Tuesday wearing a green sweatsuit and black niqab. When asked her name she responded: “I am pledged to the leader of the believers,” referring to the leader of the Islamic State
Through a translator, she asked to stay in jail until her next court appearance on June 21.
