CNN’s Brian Stelter warned Americans to beware of their social media interactions, saying they could be interacting with an entity of foreign propaganda.
To get his point across, the reporter cited his own experience spending a period of time arguing with a troll on Twitter.
“I remember before Election Day getting into arguments with this Twitter troll, not knowing it was a Russian Twitter troll,” Stelter said. “I remember trying to debunk his lies.”
“I guess it was a waste of time,” he added.
Prehaps the lesson for everyone here is to avoid arguments on the internet.
A packed movie theater in Atlanta was treated to the first 10 minutes of Fifty Shades Freed instead of Black Panther and the crowd was not amused. One Marvel fan just keeps shouting, "No!" over and over again. The two movies could not be more different than each other and one has to wonder how a mix up like that could ever happen in the first place, especially on the opening night of Black Panther, a movie that people have been looking forward to for months.
One moviegoer took to social media to share a few videos from the first 10 minutes of Fifty Shades Freed with a crowd both laughing and angry at the same time. There are many people laughing, but there are just as many who are shouting and displaying their disgust with the mishap. A few people went and told the theater manager and the movie was changed to Black Panther. However, why did it take 10 minutes for that changeover to occur? 10 minutes of Fifty Shades Freed sounds like an eternity.
Juliet Germanotta — who in campaign literature vowed to keep the state “fiscally responsible by questioning expenses ” — had ordered a $4,800 18-karat yellow gold Zambian emerald and diamond ring from Mikaelians Jewelry on West 47th Street in Midtown on September 19.
But Germanotta, 36, who describes herself as a “proud transgender woman,” claimed the ring she received was not to her liking, and requested her money back from the store.
Instead of sending the real ring back, she sent the store a $10 bogus replica — and sold the original, cops said.
ABC is facing mounting criticism after its panelists on “The View” mocked Vice President Mike Pence’s Christian faith. Detractors of “The View” are focusing on the fact that ABC News, which claims to be an unbiased broadcast news operation, oversees such a nakedly partisan program with one “token” conservative.
The women of “The View” took a shot at Pence’s Christian faith on Tuesday, mocking the former governor of Indiana for talking to Jesus and even calling it a “mental illness.”
Sunny Hostin said it’s “interesting” that former White House staffer Omarosa Manigault Newman recently said that Pence talks to Jesus and believes Jesus tells him things. Hostin said she is a “faithful” Catholic but doesn’t want her vice president “speaking in tongues.” Joy Behar then said, “It’s one thing to talk to Jesus. It’s another thing when Jesus talks to you… that’s called mental illness.”
ABC News paints itself as a fair news organization but its longtime slogan, “See the Whole Picture,” often doesn’t apply to “The View,” according to many critics.
Fresh off their disinformation campaign in the immediate aftermath of the Parkland, Florida school shooting in which they falsely claimed there had been 18 school shootings this year, the three major network news outlets (ABC, CBS, and NBC) moved on to another fake news topic they wanted to push on the American people: President Trump and the GOP made it easier for mentally ill people to buy guns.
The accusation that a bill designed to remove restrictions and allow the mentally ill to purchase guns was passed by the GOP and signed by President Trump had long been debunked. As the National Review’s Charles C.W. Cooke wrote over a year ago, what got removed was “in layman’s terms: The rule would have allowed bureaucrats within one of our federal agencies to bar American citizens from exercising a constitutional right — and on the highly questionable grounds that to be incapable of managing one’s finances is, by definition, to be a ‘mental defective.’”
And the bill wasn’t even supported by the NRA. But it was supported by the liberal ACLU and the American Association of People with Disabilities. Yet that didn’t stop the networks from pushing lies and being appalled that the President wasn’t exploiting the situation to push gun control as their previous president did.
“The President's efforts to comfort the nation tonight striking for what he didn't say,” chided White House Correspondent Peter Alexander during NBC Nightly News. “President Trump in a nearly seven-minute statement not once mentioning the word ‘Guns.’ Instead, again signaling his focus is on the mental health of shooters, not the weapons they use.” He then spewed a torrent of fake news:
ABC's Jimmy Kimmel is once again using his show as a political platform, encouraging his audience to vote out of office Republicans donate money to EveryTown.org, a gun control group seeking to "end gun violence in America."
The host aimed his most pointed criticism at President Trump, saying, "You're obviously mentally ill."
"You’ve literally done nothing," on guns, Kimmel complained. "Actually, you’ve done worse than nothing. You like to say this is a mental health issue. One of your very first acts as president, Mr. Trump, was to roll back the regulations that were designed to keep firearms out of the hands of mentally ill. You did that. Your party voted to repeal the mandates on coverage for mental health. So I agree, this is a mental illness issue, because if you don’t think we need to do something about it, you’re obviously mentally ill."
Kimmel also blasted Republicans more generally, calling them "allegedly Christian."
"Tell these congressmen and lobbyists who infest that swamp you said you were going to drain, force these allegedly Christian men and women who stuff their pockets with money from the NRA year after year after year to do something," Kimmel said. "Now, not later. Now. And don’t you dare let anyone say it’s too soon to be talking about it, because you said it after Vegas, you said it after Sandy Hook, you say that after every one of these eight now fatal school shootings we had in this country this year. Children are being murdered."
Kimmel said he's not going to allow grieving politicians to focus on prayer.
"Eight out of 10 Americans agree that a teenager shouldn’t have an AR-15," he said. "So why does a teenager legally have an AR-15? Somewhere along the line, these guys forgot they work for us, not the NRA. Us. And this time we’re not going to allow you to bow your head in prayer for two weeks."

Spraying gas on this raging political inferno is a Hollywood “axis of influence” — a group of established comedians participating in a well-funded political offensive called “Glam Up the Midterms.”
Included in this newly formed comedy troupe are predictable names such as Billy Eichner, James Corden, Sarah Silverman, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel, Conan O’Brien, John Oliver, Robin Thede, Andy Cohen, and Chelsea Handler. Officially launched on February 2 with an engaging video, “Glam Up the Midterms” is a perfect confluence of politics and entertainment in the Age of Trump. Since comedians think they can influence their fans’ political beliefs, the two are now virtually inseparable.

At a time when white supremacist groups march out in the open, and the president disparages African countries as “shitholes,” it’s not surprising many black Americans are feeling isolated and unsafe in communities and workplaces.
Some are turning those frustrations into acts of self-preservation, spending significant money to get outside of the country — away from the people who make them feel that way. Five black-owned travel organizations told VICE News that they’ve experienced upticks in interest from clients eager to get out of the United States since the election of Donald Trump.

A KIM JONG-UN impersonator says he was dragged out of the Winter Olympics by "North Korean heavies" after turning up in character and dancing in front of regime cheerleaders.
Photos taken today show the lookalike - who is notorious for appearing at public events dressed as the despot - waving to the country's cheerleader team at a united Korea hockey game against Japan.
Impersonator Howard today exclusively told The Sun: "I was actually late to the game. When I arrived, I went straight over to the North Korean cheerleaders and waving the flag and supporting them on and clapping.
"They looked really surprised and shocked. Some of them laughed, and got it, but most of them were totally shocked and I was told to sit down by a few heavies.
"After that a few heavies rushed over really p***ed off and I suspect they were North Korean delegates, just by the way they were dressed. I can't confirm, but (they were) most likely North Korean.
"They dragged me out and they kicked me in the shins and were shouting something really angrily in Korean."

An angry woman was told she would be thrown off a plane after refusing to sit next to a mum and her young baby.
The irate passenger threatened to have the Delta flight attendant fired if she was made to sit next to Marissa Rundell and her eight-month-old son Mason at the back of the plane.
Ms Rundell said the woman started to complain as soon as she boarded the February 6 flight from JFK to Syracuse, New York.
The 19-year-old claims the passenger 'slammed' her bags down and branded the seating arrangement 'f***ing ridiculous'.
She later filmed the moment flight attendant Tabitha attempted to mediate the situation and eventually had the woman thrown off the plane.
Shocking video shows a cyclist so focused on his mobile phone that he crashes into a gate and loses his teeth.
The cyclist is seen travelling at speed while looking down at his mobile phone in Coventry.
But he suddenly smashes into a metal gate with considerable force.
Blood and at least five teeth were scattered across the pavement as video footage shows.
CCTV caught the gruesome moment at Daz Rollins’ home in the early hours of last Wednesday.
Daz, 38, found the incident on his home security footage and posted it online with the caption: "Footage of that bloke crashing into that gate last night. Not good. Dentist for you my son.”
Rep. Keith Ellison, deputy chair of the Democratic National Committee, on Friday sought to immediately retract claims that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is acting more responsibly than President Trump.
"North Korea is a serious thing," Ellison, D-Minn., told attendees at the NetrootsNation conference during a question-and-answer session. "You have this guy making bellicose threats against somebody else who has very little to lose over there. Kim Jong Un, the world always thought he was not a responsible leader; well, he's acting more responsible than this guy is."
Ellison immediately retracted those remarks in an interview with a Washington Post reporter after leaving the panel.
"That was one of those I wish I'd not said," Ellison told the Post. "It's tailor-made for somebody to misuse. I'd say, he's being incredibly irresponsible, and he's putting us in a situation where you could have an accidental launch.
Ellison warned Trump's rhetoric could spur Kim to take action first and called for someone to bring "calm to the situation, not spiking it."
The former chief-of-staff of Iran’s armed forces said Tuesday that Western spies had used lizards to “attract atomic waves” and spy on his country’s nuclear program.
It was the latest in a long line of incidents of Western countries, including Israel, being accused of deploying secret agents from the animal kingdom.
Hassan Firuzabadi, senior military adviser to supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was responding to questions from local media on the recent arrest of environmentalists.
He said he did not know the details of the cases, but that the West had often used tourists, scientists and environmentalists to spy on Iran.
“Several years ago, some individuals came to Iran to collect aid for Palestine… We were suspicious of the route they chose,” he told the reformist ILNA news agency.
“In their possessions were a variety of reptile desert species like lizards, chameleons… We found out that their skin attracts atomic waves and that they were nuclear spies who wanted to find out where inside the Islamic Republic of Iran we have uranium mines and where we are engaged in atomic activities,” he said.

The painting was done by Baltimore artist Amy Sherald, who is known for her social justice painting style.
“Let’s just start by saying, ‘Wow,’ again. Let me just take a minute. It’s amazing. Wow,” Obama said after the portrait was unveiled. The moment was met with a gasp and applause.
All presidents and first ladies have their portraits done and hung in the Portrait Gallery.
