A Chinese boy died yesterday after being impaled by a sword belonging to a classmate during a PE lesson.
The 13-year-old pupil, named Guo Sheng, was said to be playing with the classmate who had brought the weapon with him, according to reports.
Guo died shortly after his frightened classmate pulled out the blade, the school said in a statement.
The incident was deemed as an accident by the regional government, school authority and police, but Guo's parents and the general public disagreed.
According to Beijing Youth Daily, the sword belonged to a Year Eight student, known as Li, who studies at a secondary school in Changning, Hunan Province.

The left has no concept of when they are taking things too far. In his latest disgusting stunt, Jimmy Kimmel edits video of Roy Moore so he appears pantsless around a child.
In the video it appears that a 12-year-old child is interviewing Judge Roy Moore and the video gives the impression that Moore is shoving his crotch in her face.
The edited video was of Mille March. She rose to prominence on the right when she was in an adorable video of her endorsing Trump at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

Students at Oberlin College have long enjoyed pastries, bagels and chocolates from Gibson's Bakery, a century-old, family-owned business near campus. That sweet relationship has turned bitter amid hotly disputed accusations of racism, roiling a school and town long known for their liberal politics.
The dispute, which began in November 2016 with the arrest of three black Oberlin students who tried stealing wine from Gibson's, is now a lawsuit in which the exasperated bakery owners accuse the college and a top dean of slandering Gibson's as a "racist establishment" and taking steps to destroy the family's livelihood.
Caught in the middle are longtime residents of this town of 8,300 people, many of whom identify themselves as liberals but who have patronized Gibson's for decades. Many believe the timing was right for the conflict to boil over; the arrests came the day after Donald Trump won the presidential election, electrifying students who had long heard suspicions of racial profiling at Gibson's.
"I can understand why people were looking for some outlet for their frustration, but it's just counterproductive to bend that anger towards a small family business that to my knowledge is not guilty of the sort of racial profiling that people accuse it of," said retired Oberlin professor Roger Copeland.

Former head of the Democratic National Committee Donna Brazile is finally opening-up about the serious questions surrounding Hillary Clinton’s health, saying the doomed nominee was frequently “under the weather” and urging the White House hopeful to “go get a doctor” before she infamously collapsed in New York City.
The interim DNC boss was speaking with radio host Hugh Hewitt when she was asked to weigh-in on the ongoing mystery surrounding the former Secretary of State’s health issues, adding Clinton should have seen a doctor before appearing at a September 11th memorial event in NYC.
“I was in New York with her, I could tell from her mannerisms just a few minutes before that she was under the weather. She wasn’t feeling good,” said Brazile. “I saw her on Friday night. She’s under the weather. What’s wrong? Tell me what’s wrong. Go get a doctor and make a good analysis.”
“I don’t think they knew at the time that video would go viral, and that video would tell a different story. And as a result of that video going viral, I had to make a very difficult decision,” she added. “I had to confer with people who were calling me about what if, what if. And luckily, we never got to that. But I did have to think through what if she did not recover.”
Brazile made national headlines earlier this year when she admitted the DNC had weighed the possibility of removing Hillary Clinton from the 2016 Democratic ticket over serious concerns about the candidate’s health. Just weeks ago, Clinton reportedly fell down a flight of stairs while visiting the UK, quickly canceling television appearances to promote her recent memoir.
“The country is in freefall, tearing itself apart!” warns Carrie Mathison.
Yeah, so we’ve heard.
Former CIA agent Mathison (Claire Danes) is back in the first trailer for Showtime’s Homeland season 7, which depicts the show’s heroes and villains alike struggling against an overreaching and civil rights-abusing president.
The upcoming season of the espionage thriller has a rogue Mathison trying to take down criminals in the government under the tyrannical administration of President Keene (Elizabeth Marvel), who has arrested 200 members of the intelligence community after barely surviving an assassination plot in the season 6 finale.
Also targeting Keene: The show’s Alex Jones-like conspiracy character Brett O’Keefe (Jake Weber) who was first introduced last season. “The founding fathers foresaw the dark day when we would face a president like her,” warns O’Keefe as he aims a pistol at a poster of the president’s face. “Anyone who takes a stand for what they believe, people are gonna say they’re crazy. They’ve been calling me that for years.”
Meanwhile, Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) is getting close to Keene as a new member of her administration, while Keene herself is apparently under investigation for her actions (“How is that they tried to assassinate me and I’m the one under investigation?” she asks).
If you’re looking to figure out what Homeland might be trying to say about our current administration … well, it’s tricker than it looks. The show banked on Hillary Clinton winning in 2016 while making season 6, then recalibrated a bit midway through after Donald Trump won. Keene was originally presented as a liberal and sympathetic figure until the season’s climactic assassination attempt, after which she went on an authoritarian warpath, which is where this alternate D.C. universe finds itself now.

A Christian teacher is suing his secondary school after being suspended for referring to a biologically female pupil as a “girl”.
Joshua Sutcliffe, 27, from Oxford, argues that he was not trained in the new, quickly evolving, gender politics and should not be forced to accept transgender ideology as a Christian.
He says he was investigated and suspended after he said, “well done, girls” to a group of female pupils, including a pupil who “identified” as a boy.
The teacher says he apologised immediately after the incident, but documents seen at the time showed that he had also referred to the pupil with the feminine pronouns “she” and “her” on other occasions.

Watch this man say the dumbest thing anyone has ever said on CNN in their entire history
During Monday’s White House press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and CNN Senior White House Correspondent Jim Acosta battled over various inaccurate news reports about the White House with Acosta arguing reporters make “honest mistakes and that doesn’t make them fake news” and Sanders maintaining that reporters “purposefully” mislead people “regularly.”
Acosta said, “I would say, Sarah, that journalists make honest mistakes and that doesn’t make them fake news.”
Acosta then tried to pivot to another question, but Sanders interjected, “But when journalists make honest mistakes, they should own up to them. Sometimes, and a lot of times, you don’t. But there’s a difference…between making honest mistakes and purposefully misleading the American people, something that happens regularly.”
Monday on CNN’s “The Lead,” host Jake Tapper criticized the administration of President Donald Trump for claiming the media intentionally misleads people.
Tapper said, “You might find it hard to believe, but the Trump White House today said it is wrong when people put out information they know to be incorrect in an attempt to mislead the public. That’s right, the White House, run by the president who came to political prominence by promoting the lie that the first African-American president was born in Africa, is finding time to take issue with those who mislead people.”
He continued, “The White House, run by the president who said with no evidence that crowds of American Muslims were seen on TV celebrating in New Jersey after 9/11. The man who repeated the ludicrous National Enquirer claim that Ted Cruz’s father had something to do with the Kennedy assassination, and the man who said with no evidence there were 3 to 5 million fraudulent votes for Hillary Clinton. That same president is taking issue with people being misled.”

Two Cincinnati police officers used "horrible judgment" and may have violated department policy when they used their Tasers in an early August scuffle, say experts who reviewed body camera footage. The Aug. 8 incident prompted an extraordinary intervention by the Hamilton County prosecutor in an external city investigation into the use of force and a major showdown between City Manager Harry Black and police union President Dan Hils. Two experts – a professor and an expert witness/consultant – reviewed the footage. The experts, both retired police officers, both said that neither the use of force nor the subsequent controversy had to happen. They added that the officers clearly did not follow the city police policy of de-escalation when confronting two young men in their mother's living room in Clifton Heights. And then once things escalated, the officers never stated they were arresting the two men and instead pulled their Tasers and eventually used them – a potential violation of CPD’s official use of force policy. The incident and its aftermath left both men with their first criminal convictions. One of them also suffered a collapsed lung during his arrest; he was recovering from back fusion surgery at the time.
CPD officials declined interview requests to discuss the incident and denied requests to interview Officers Richard Sullivan and Lawrence Johnson, citing an ongoing internal investigation. Johnson was involved in the 2011 fatal police shooting of David “Bones” Hebert in Northside. He was the officer in front of Hebert that early morning when a knife appeared and another officer shot and killed Hebert. Angela Brown, who originally called the police to get her sons to leave her apartment, did not return messages left on her cell phone. The two half-brothers involved, Richard Coleman, 24, and James Crawley, 25, did not return emails seeking comment. Crawley’s lawyer declined comment as the judge in his case has yet to issue a sentence. The men told city investigators they were at their mother's apartment to help her grocery shop, with one saying Brown previously invited him to live there. One of the experts said that the videos show the two officers actively escalating the situation instead of calming things down and eventually “using the Tasers as a form of torture to get them to do what they wanted them to do." “Anyone with any common sense can see the officers never give the kids a chance … and they immediately turned to a weapon that is one step below using lethal force,” said Gary A. Rini, a longtime police officer and commander from suburban Cleveland who now works as a police consultant and expert witness.
Following the incident, one of the brothers made a complaint to the Citizen Complaint Authority, which was created as part of the 2001 Collaborative Agreement to investigate allegations against police. Fraternal Order of Police President Hils requested that city investigators hold off on interviewing the officers until after the two men were fully prosecuted. Eventually, Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters took the previously unheard-of step of asking for and receiving a temporary restraining order against the city, preventing the Citizen Complaint Authority from interviewing the officers. David Thomas, a 20-year police veteran who is now an associate forensics professor at Florida Gulf Coast University, said he could see why the prosecutor didn’t want the officers to be interviewed nor the footage made public until after the charges against the two men had gone through the courts. “There’s certainly enough in here to call into question the officers’ actions in a criminal proceeding against the subjects,” said Thomas, who is also a senior research fellowwith the Police Foundation, a nonprofit policy research group focusing on policing issues.

A massive asteroid is set to skim the Earth on Saturday, December 16 - just over a week before Christmas.
With a diameter of about 3 miles, the asteroid is named 3200 Phaethon after the Greek demi-god who, according to legend, nearly set the Earth on fire.
Unlike its namesake, however, 3200 Phaethon is unlikely to destroy our planet.
It will pass within 6.5 million miles of the Earth, which is relatively close in space terms, but still around 27 times the distance of the moon.
"With a diameter of about 5 km, Phaethon is the third largest near-Earth asteroid classified as 'Potentially Hazardous'," NASA said in a statement .
Scientists at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory are planning to use the opportunity to obtain a detailed 3D model of the asteroid, which has a particularly irregular shape.
An angry thug battered a defenceless woman in a car park in a terrifying road rage attack.
Police are now looking for the man who carried out the assault in Missouri which saw him hurl the woman to the ground after kicking her car.
The dramatic footage captured by CCTV has been released by the Arnold Police Department in the hope that officers can find the man.
Although it is unclear what triggered the attack, in the video the pair can be seen shouting and arguing before the man starts kicking the back passenger side of the car.
As he walks back to his vehicle the woman gets out and tries taking a photo of his number plate on her mobile.
As soon as he realises, he charges at the woman and launches into the vicious attack, pushing her to the ground he wrestles for her phone.
And as soon as he pries it free from her grip, he can be seen chucking it across the car park.
Stunned passersby get out of their cars to help the woman who limps in pain towards her mobile device.
The man then gets back into his truck - a blue GMC Sierra - and tries to drive off - almost running the woman over in the process.
Arnold Police Department, which released the footage, is now asking for help in identifying the man.
In a post shared on Facebook the video has been viewed over 70,000 times and had more than 1,300 shares.
While many condemn the man, others are praising the people that tried to help out.
One comment said: "This is a bad scenario for sure proud to see that there are several good people coming to her aid."
And another said: "Glad the stand-byers helped out!"
Incredible footage shows villagers pull of the seemingly impossible rescue of a family from a car that had been crushed by a massive truck.
A heartwarming footage shows five people, including a baby, being pulled out if the wreckage.
Anxious rescuers , who did not have any specialist equipment, were able to lift the three adults and three children out of the car.
The footage is believed to have been shot in Nigeria.
The first to emerge was an infant, who was shown being walked to safety after being pulled through the car window.
Rescuers were then able to lift the back of the truck in order to pull a person, who looks like a child, free, followed by another child.
A woman was able to walk away from the crash despite having a painful-looking knee injury.
She was able to climb out of the crushed car after being pulled out by rescuers.
A man and then another woman were also pulled out.
